Autumn Day

Autumn Day

Before this day is done,
I yearn to walk
along the path
of burning embers
of the trees.

Before this day is done,
I yearn to trek
along the banks
of whispering brooks
clad in autumn's splendor.

Before this day is done,
I yearn to hear
the last
of the songbirds
before their yearly flight.

Before this day is done,
I want to laugh
with the joy
of autumn
before it's gone!

  1. I wrote a poem too! And man I love autumn! It’s got to be my favorite season  I wish I wrote about that! Good call haha. My favorite description is “burning embers”; it’s sort of how I see it too, especially when the leaves are falling from the trees and flying around. But anyway, I wish your poem was longer and full of similar metaphorical imagery, because it always excites my senses and imagination – plus since I love the season I would enjoy further descriptions anyway :)

The photos are very lovely, did you take them yourself?

    1. Thank you so much! I wrote the poem in about 15 minutes. I love autumn also, and yes these two pictures I took myself! So far they are my favorite fall photos!
